UJJAIN (Madhya Pradesh), July 23, 2025 – On the auspicious occasion of Shravan Shivratri 2025, the sacred Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain witnessed a grand celebration with divine aarti and special prayers. Devotees from across the country gathered at one of India’s most revered Jyotirlinga temples to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva on this holy day of the Shravan month.

Significance of Shravan Shivratri at Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga

The Shravan month, dedicated to Lord Shiva, holds immense importance for devotees, and Shravan Shivratri is considered one of the most powerful days for worship. The Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India, is a major pilgrimage site where thousands of devotees perform rituals, chant Shiva mantras, and offer sacred Jalabhishek on the Shivlinga.

Special Aarti and Devotee Participation

The temple premises were filled with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” as priests performed the special aarti early in the morning. Devotees offered Bilva leaves, Gangajal, milk, and flowers to Lord Shiva, seeking divine blessings for peace, prosperity, and liberation from obstacles. The Bhasma Aarti, a unique tradition of the Mahakaleshwar temple, attracted a massive crowd of pilgrims, with many witnessing the ritual for the first time.

The Mahakaleshwar temple was decorated with lights and flowers, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Pilgrims, many of whom observed day-long fasts, took part in the aarti and recited powerful Shiva mantras like ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ and ‘Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra’ throughout the day, making it a spiritually enriching experience.

Why Devotees Flock to Ujjain on Shravan Shivratri?

The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is believed to fulfill the wishes of devotees who worship Lord Shiva with true devotion during Shravan Shivratri. Pilgrims believe that performing darshan and puja at this sacred site helps remove negativity, attract blessings, and attain spiritual progress.
