A Lamborghini sports car worth Rs 1 crore was set ablaze in Hyderabad over a financial dispute. According to a PTI report, a person who deals in sale and purchase of old cars allegedly burnt the luxury sports car with the help of a few accomplices, claiming that the owner of the car owed him money.

The chain of events leading up to the case of arson began when the owner of the Lamborghini decided to sell off the vehicle. The owner requested his friends to look for buyers for the Lamborghini, a 2009 model that he had bought for Rs 1 crore.

The main accused in the case has been identified as Ahmed, according to Times of India. Ahmed apparently called a friend of the Lamborghini’s owner and asked them to bring the car to a certain location.

When the car was brought to Mamidipalli Road on the Hyderabad outskirts on April 13 evening, he, along with a few others, burnt it using petrol, claiming that the car owner owed him money, police said.

The incident took place on Saturday. Footage of the car going up in flames has been widely shared online. The car was reportedly burnt completely before fire tenders could reach the spot. The fire was later extinguished by the fire department.

Based on a complaint by the person who took the car, a case under Section 435 IPC (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage) was registered. Full details would be known after investigation, police added.
