Some friendships are written in the stars — or, in this case, scripted in Bollywood history.
When Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan came together for Karan Arjun in 1995, it wasn’t just a film being made; it was the beginning of a brotherhood that fans would hold dear for decades.
Ever since, the two megastars have been affectionately called “Karan” and “Arjun” every time they share a frame.
Their reunion nearly 30 years later in Pathaan was nothing short of nostalgic magic, sending social media into a meltdown as audiences celebrated seeing the iconic duo back together again.
Recently, veteran choreographer Chinni Prakash, who worked on Karan Arjun, took a trip down memory lane.
Speaking to Friday Talkies, he recalled a time when both Shah Rukh and Salman weren’t just heroes on screen but off it as well. Chinni, who choreographed the energetic number Bhangda Paale, shared a lesser-known story that revealed their protective and grounded sides.
“During the shoot, one of the villagers started teasing girls on the set. Salman got very angry. Shah Rukh picked up lathis and started beating them. A big fight started. Then Salman, me and Shah Rukh, we took the girls in a van and took them to the hotel.”
Chinni also spoke about their chemistry during the making of Karan Arjun. “It (Bhangda Paale) was an iconic song because both the heroes were dancing together, and they both were upcoming superstars. Salman was very close to me because I did his second film. Shah Rukh was not close to us. He was a little away.”
Over the years, their friendship has seen highs and lows — including a much-publicised fallout that left fans heartbroken.
On the work front, Salman Khan is currently gearing up for his film Battle Of Galwan and Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for King.
