A Delhi-based entrepreneur has claimed that his friend had ordered a Sonos speaker worth Rs 30,000 on Flipkart, but when he received the order, he found that inside the original box was an MI Bluetooth speaker worth Rs 2,300.

Taking to X, Abhishek Bhatnagar, who has a following of more than 66,000, said that Flipkart's customer care has been unable to resolve the matter despite multiple follow-ups.

"My friend (Nikhil) ordered a Sonos speaker worth Rs 30,000, and he got a Mi Bluetooth Rs 2,400 speaker in a box of Sonos. Even after multiple follow-ups and complaints, Flipkart and Flipkart Support do not care to respond to or resolve this," he wrote. "My friend also recorded a video of the unboxing, which I have attached as proof and some photos. It is quite sad that even when a customer has proof of a fake or wrong product delivered, they do not care to respond."

Bhatnagar also shared an unboxing video that showed a properly packed Sonos speaker box inside the sealed Flipkart carton. The clip, however, does not show the Flipkart customer, opening the Sonos box. Moreover, pictures shared also showed the Sonos box with the Mi speaker but none of them showed unboxing of the original speaker's carton.

The allegation against Flipkart has divided the internet with some users calling on Flipkart to investigate the matter and others calling it a scam by the e-commerce platform.

"Don't know whom to blame. Why wasn't it was open box delivery?" asked X user Shubham (@FrontEndFury). Another user Kryptogem (@ShineCryptic) wrote, "(It's) not going help if you don't have Sonos unboxing video. Your friend nowhere proved that he received Mi box inside the Sonos box."

"Recently ordered products from Flipkart, All were open box deliveries and they ask OTP once you are satisfied with what you ordered. This has become a process for expensive products due to scams. Not sure why this process was not followed in your friend's case," added Kovai Karthic (@Kovai_Karthic).

In a separate post, however, Bhatnagar added that Flipkart has reached out to them, promising to resolve the matter in two days. Moneycontrol has also reached out to the company for a comment, this story will be updated once they respond.

Meanwhile, in a similar incident, an Amazon customer in Kolkata recently received a second-hand watch after he placed an order for a Rs 31,500 Tissot watch as a gift for his uncle.
