Software giant Tech Mahindra got set for a transitional phase earlier this week when Mohit Joshi took over the CEO from CP Gurnani, who ended his 19-year stint at the organisation.
Later, Gurnani took to LinkedIn and wrote that the end of his stint at Tech Mahindra also marked his retirement from corporate life and shared the lessons he learnt from his time as a corporate professional.
"This is a letter that I would write only once in my life. A goodbye letter, which officially marks the end of my 19-year-long tenure with Tech Mahindra, my retirement from corporate life, and of course, my entry into my 66th year. So, what did I learn?" Gurnani wrote.
Gurnani further urged users to focus on individual excellence and added that one should aim for nothing but top spot in life and build accordingly.
"My message to you is simple – at some point of time in my life, I’ve been each one of you. So, you must know that you could be anywhere if you put your heart to it. This is about individual excellence, and you should aim for nothing but the first, top, best spot on the stage. It’s in your hands, make the best use of your talent and time. Build yourself," he wrote.
Additionally, Gurnani also acknowledged the importance of friends and family in anyone's success and urged users to build a team.
"You can’t run long enough to deliver the whole distance alone, so you pass the baton on. The actors change, the roles get passed on, the show goes on. That’s how teams win – that’s how you will win. This is about collaborative brilliance."
"Your life partner, your best friend, your favorite colleague, your mentor, your skills, knowledge, networks – they’re your team. You may run win without them, but you won’t go a long distance. Build your team," he wrote.
Gurnani further said one gets to know about the larger purpose over a period of time and aspects such as 9-5 job do not become as important as before.
"The marathon belongs to the world. Make it happen. Every day, as you continue growing, you will keep getting closer to your larger purpose. It may already be known to you, or it may reveal itself as you explore your life. Once you know that, you will understand there’s more to your existence in this world than a 9-5 job and getting paid once every fortnight or month," Gurnani wrote.
Gurnani's post went viral and saw a lot of comments from users, who praised him for his stint as Tech Mahindra CEO.
"Sir your life has been no less than any historical hero , I have seen you closely for 16 years and every minute spent I wanted to be a part of you , every moment be it is at Noida at 1 am discussing a project , or peak Covid in Pune discussing a drive back - you always had the journey in your mind , the path cleared," one user wrote.
"So well said . Truly a leader at heart . I have always enjoyed your posts . You bring so much through simple conversations. Keep inspiring and wishing you a healthy and enjoyable life," another user wrote.
