At 12:03 AM on January 1, 2025, India celebrated the birth of its first Generation Beta baby. Frankie Remruatdika Zadeng was born at Synod Hospital in Durtlang, Aizawl, Mizoram, marking the beginning of a new generational era. The baby boy weighed 3.12 kg at birth and was confirmed to be in good health by Sister Lalchhuanawmi of the hospital’s Lawmna Ward.

Frankie was welcomed into a family that includes his parents, Ramzirmawii and ZD Remruatsanga, and his older sister. The family resides in Khatla East, Aizawl. Speaking to Akashvani News Aizawl, the mother expressed her joy at bringing the country’s first Gen Beta baby into the world.

Generation Beta refers to children born between 2025 and 2039, as defined by futurist Mark McCrindle. This new cohort succeeds Generation Alpha (2010–2024) and is expected to represent 16% of the global population by 2035. According to McCrindle, Gen Beta will grow up in an era where artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and other technological advancements are seamlessly integrated into daily life, influencing education, healthcare, workplaces, and entertainment.

McCrindle’s blog highlighted that this generation will benefit from a blend of digital and physical experiences, shaped by evolving social norms and a focus on sustainability. Many Gen Beta individuals are anticipated to live into the 22nd century due to advances in healthcare and technology.

Millennials, or Generation Y (born 1981–1996), are often referred to as digital pioneers, valuing collaboration and experiences. Generation Z (1997–2010) is recognised as the first true digital-native generation, known for its social consciousness. Generation Alpha (2011–2024) represents the children of Millennials, growing up with unprecedented levels of technological integration.
