The onset of 2025 will also usher in the era of Generation Beta -- a term that will be used to describe kids born between 2025 and around 2039. This group of people follows Gen Alpha (2010–2024), Gen Z (1996–2010), and millennials (1981–1996) and their era is likely to be marked by rapid technological advancements and profound societal changes.
Here are five things to understand about this new generation:
1.) Generation Beta is expected to make optimum utilisation of artificial intelligence and smart devices, and would possibly integrate these tools into their daily routines.
2.) Social media has been a defining feature for earlier generations, but for Generation Beta, its role may evolve.
3.) This generation will also grow up in a post-pandemic world that is removed from the direct impact of school closures and social isolation that impacted earlier generations, The Independent reported.
4.) Demographer and futurist Mark McCrindle wrote in his blog Generation Beta “will inherit a world grappling with major societal challenges". “With climate change, global population shifts, and rapid urbanisation at the forefront, sustainability will not just be a preference but an expectation," he wrote, adding that environmental challenges would shape societal values during their formative years.
5.) Generational researcher and the author of Zconomy: How Gen Z Will Change the Future of Business — and What to Do About It, Jason Dorsey commented: “It wasn’t that long ago that we were talking about millennials as kids." He said that Generation Beta will start their lives much differently than their Gen Alpha counterparts. The children of younger millennials and older Gen Zers, they will be born into a completely post-pandemic world. Many of them will live to see the 22nd century, Dorsey told NBC News.
