Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harssh Limbachiyaa have become parents for the second time now. Bharti reportedly delivered the baby boy on December 19 after her water broke down in the early hours of morning. She was rushed to hospital and few hours later, she delivered the child.
Her husband was by her side when the delivery happened. In fact, she was scheduled to shoot for TV show 'Laughter Chefs' when her water broke unexpectedly.
When water breaks during pregnancy, it means the protective fluid-filled sac around the baby has opened, causing fluid to leak or flow out through the vagina. The fluid may come out as a sudden gush or a slow, steady leak.
The function of the amniotic fluid is to help cushion the baby, support lung development, and protect against infection. So, once the water breaks, medical care becomes important.
When water breaks down during pregnancy, it often indicates that a woman can go into labour any time soon. This is why it is advised to take women to hospital and let her be under observation. This helps reduce the risk of any infection and also helps keep the baby safe.
For most women, water breaks during the later stage of pregnancy and when she is typically near the state of going into labour. However, if water breaks before 37 weeks, it’s considered preterm and needs urgent medical attention.
