World wildlife organisation celebrates milestones in protecting wildlife across the globe in 2025. Conservation efforts span in North America, Asia, Africa and Southeast Asian forests. These projects demonstrate how people and nature can thrive together sustainably.

1. Grasslands Protected in the United States

Sustainable Ranching Initiative improved management of 1.3 million acres. The program partners with 121 private ranches across four states. Native prairies were restored over 45,000 acres through 163 projects. Wetlands received attention too, with 500 acres restored in 16 projects. Ranchers received training to manage landscapes sustainably and responsibly.

2. Wildlife Discovery in Bhutan

WWF scientists collected high-altitude river water samples for eDNA. They detected snow leopards and 19 other mammal species successfully. Rare species included woolly flying squirrels at unprecedented elevations. Bhutan’s first eDNA lab now allows faster in-country analysis.

3. Nepal Snow Leopard Populations Stable

Nepal estimates 397 snow leopards, showing a stable population. Previous surveys relied on tracks, scat and habitat modelling data. Findings guide future conservation strategies and support long-term protections.

4. Poaching Reduction Technology in Kenya

Thermal FLIR cameras detect intrusions, helping stop rhino poaching effectively. Ol Pejeta and Solio reserves achieved zero poaching since deployment. Artificial intelligence alerts rangers instantly, improving response times drastically.

5. Sumatra’s Thirty Hills Conservation Success

WWF secured 100,000 acres of lowland forest for restoration. Sumatran elephants, tigers and orangutans now thrive in protected forests. Local communities manage forests sustainably, combining biodiversity with livelihoods.

6. Gorilla Habituation in Dzanga-Sangha

A new western lowland gorilla group was successfully habituated recently. Silverback Limo leads the group, visible to visiting tourists safely. Experienced staff ensured smooth habituation after losses of previous silverbacks.

Witness the power of Conservation

WWF’s global efforts highlight the power of conservation partnerships. Protecting wildlife ensures ecosystems remain resilient for future generations. The communities, technology and science together can safeguard species effectively. These milestones show hope for nature despite growing environmental challenges.
