After putting up a tepid performance in 2022, pharma and healthcare funds made a strong comeback over the last 15 months with the Nifty Pharma index significantly outperforming the Nifty 50. Experts attribute this to a stable pricing environment in the US. So far this year, the pharmaceutical funds category yielded 10 percent returns, while the Nifty 50 index gained only 1 percent. Data shows that active fund managers are particularly interested in the small- and mid- cap segment of the pharma and healthcare sector.
