Dindoshi Election 2024: Constituency details, candidates list, results and more

Sunil Prabhu of the Shiv Sena (UBT) is the sitting MLA from the Dindoshi Assembly constituency which will go to polls on November 20 while the results will be declared on November 23.

The elections to the Dindoshi Assembly constituency in Maharashtra is set to witness an epic clash between the two factions of the Shiv Sena -- one led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the other, by his predecessor Uddhav Thackeray. Dindoshi is among the 288 Assembly seats in Maharashtra which are headed to polls. Voting for the Dindoshi Assembly seats will take place on November 20 while the results will be declared on November 23.

Dindoshi Assembly Constituency

A suburb in Malad area of Mumbai, the Dindoshi Assembly is a general seat part of the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency located in the Mumbai Suburban district. The Dindoshi seat will see a fierce contest between the Shiv Sena of Eknath Shinde and the Shiv Sena (UBT). According to the state Chief Election Commissioner (CEO), the Dindoshi constituency will have 286 polling stations for voters to cast their franchise.

According to the Election Commission of India, there are 1,56,300 voters in the Dindoshi constituency which includes 91,869 men and 64,187 women. Sunil Prabhu of the Shiv Sena (UBT) is the sitting MLA from the seat and has held the seat for two successive terms.

Dindoshi Assembly Constituency Candidates

The Assembly election in Dindoshi will see a fierce face-off between two heavyweights from Mumbai, besides other candidates in the fray. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded two-time MLA from the seat Sunil Prabhu as its candidate. The Shiv Sena of Eknath Shinde, on the other hand, has fielded Congress turncoat Sanjay Nirupam from the constituency.

Other prominent candidates include Narahari Jirwal from the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party and Sunita Charoskar who has been given a ticket by the Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP. There are many other candidates who have filed their nominations as Independents or candidates from smaller parties.

Dindoshi Assembly Election Result 2024: What happened in 2019?

Sunil Prabhu of the then undivided Shiv Sena had emerged as the winner in the 2019 Assembly elections held in the state. It was his second consecutive victory from the seat. He defeated NCP candidate Vidya Chavan by a margin of 44,511 votes. While 82,203 votes were polled in favour of Prabhu, Vidya Chavan secured 37,692 votes while MNS candidate Arun Dhondiram Surve stood third with 25,854 votes.

The voter turnout recorded in Dindoshi during the 2019 Assembly election was 55.49% which was marginally above the 53.63% turnout seen during the previous polls.

Dindoshi Assembly Election Date 2024

The Dindoshi constituency in Maharashtra will go to the polls on Wednesday, November 20. Polling in Dindoshi will take place along with the other 287 constituencies of Maharashtra which is going to polls in a single phase.
