Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is on track to make its first solar giga-factory operational in FY25, with chairman Mukesh Ambani spearheading the company's shift towards green energy.
The solar giga factory will include manufacturing of PV modules, cells, wafers and ingots, polysilicon, and glass at a single location.
"New Energy will be commissioning its first train of Module and Cell Manufacturing in FY25. Solar panels manufactured in Jamnagar have
obtained BIS certification," the industrial conglomerate said in its annual report on August 7.
RIL expects the green power segment to emerge as a growth engine for the company that could potentially outperform other businesses in the next 5-7 years.
Reliance said the company plans to get its new energy manufacturing facilities up and running over the next 12 months. "Simultaneously, we
would develop supply chain locally for self-sufficiency and reduce the reliance on imports," the company said.
