Wife of GR Infraprojects promotor buys bungalow in Vasant Vihar for Rs 86 crore

The buyer paid a stamp duty of Rs 4.36 crore for the transaction, along with e-registration charges of Rs 86.01 lakh

Laxmi Devi Agarwal, wife of the promotor of GR Infraprojects Limited, Devkinandan Agarwal, has purchased a bungalow in Vasant Vihar, an upscale Delhi locality, for Rs 86 crore, according to documents accessed by proptech firm Zapkey.com.

The sale deed was executed in Laxmi Devi Agarwal’s name on September 18, 2023. Agarwal paid a stamp duty of Rs 4.36 crore for the transaction, along with e-registration charges of Rs 86.01 lakh, the documents showed.

According to the documents, the property of plot size 1,003.32 square metres (sq m) or 1,200 square yards (sq yd) is located on Paschimi Marg in Vasant Vihar in South Delhi. The property has a total plinth area of 339.88 sq m. Agarwal bought the bungalow from Jaideep Singh and Alok Singh, sons of the late Tarlok Singh, the first private secretary to India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.

According to the circle rate, the value of the property is around Rs 78.18 crore, the documents showed. There was no immediate response from the buyer or the sellers to queries from Moneycontrol.

This is the latest in a string of notable deals made in Delhi this year. For instance, in March, a 2,160-square-foot bungalow was bought in the name of Vasudha Rohatgi, wife of former attorney general of India Mukul Rohatgi, in Delhi's tony Golf Links for Rs 160 crore.

In August, Renu Khuller, director of Global Dent Aids, a company that manufactures interdental brushes (a kind of substitute for floss), bought a bungalow spread across 873 sq yd in Delhi’s posh Nizamuddin East for Rs 61.70 crore.

In May 2023, Lenskart co-founder Peyush Bansal purchased a house in Neeti Bagh for Rs 18 crore.
