Natural remedies to protect your eyesight from UV rays: Saffron, cucumber, ghee, coriander, more

Protecting your eyesight from UV rays is crucial as excessive exposure can lead to serious eye conditions like cataracts and macular degeneration. Here are some natural remedies that protect your eyesight from UV rays.

In Ayurveda, "tatwa" refers to the five basic elements: Earth (Prithvi), Water (Jala), Fire (Agni), Air (Vayu), and Ether (Akasha). These elements combine to create the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The Pitta dosha, linked to the Fire element (Agni), controls heat, metabolism, and transformation in the body. The eyes are a primary site of Pitta. Excessive exposure to intense UV rays can disturb the Pitta dosha, leading to symptoms like redness, a burning sensation, dryness, and inflammation in the eyes. To balance Pitta and protect the eyes from the harmful effects of UV rays, Ayurveda recommends the following herbs and natural remedies according to Doctor Mandeep Singh Basu, Director, Doctor Basu Eye Hospital and Jagat Pharma.
