Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh, and R. Madhavan’s romcom De De Pyaar De 2 arrived in theatres on Friday, 14 November, and has got off to a promising start.
As per a trading website, the film earns a total of Rs 34.75 Cr.
The film, which also stars Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezan Jaaferi, and Gautami Kapoor, opened to around Rs 8.75 crore on its first day—a solid beginning for a post-pandemic release.
As per a trading website, over the weekend, it picked up steam, following a pattern similar to the first instalment. Early estimates show it earned Rs 12.25 crore on Saturday, a 40 per cent jump from Friday, and Rs 13.75 crore on Sunday, reflecting steady audience interest.
Traditionally, Monday collections can reveal how well a film sustains itself, and the first De De Pyaar De ran successfully for five weeks after a similar start.
The movie is currently doing best in Delhi-NCR, but its long-term success will depend on its continued expansion into mass-market areas like Gujarat and the central belt.
As per a trading website, on Sunday, Hindi 2D theatre occupancy was reported at 9.59% in the morning, 25.64% in the afternoon, 38.57% in the evening, and 25.94% at night, indicating strong evening footfall.
Directed by Anshul Sharma, the sequel picks up where the first film left off. Ashish (Ajay Devgn) has managed to win over his own family regarding his relationship with the much younger Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh).
The next challenge, however, is convincing her parents, Rakesh (R. Madhavan) and Anju (Gautami Kapoor), that this love story is meant to be. The film, produced by T-Series Films and Luv Films, mixes humour, romance, and family drama, offering audiences a heartfelt and entertaining cinematic experience.
