Veteran Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty’s relationship with the late actress Sridevi once dominated headlines, becoming a subject of widespread media and public interest. Their love story, often regarded as one of the most intriguing chapters in Bollywood history, was reportedly marked by a brief marriage from 1985 to 1988, though neither Mithun nor Sridevi ever confirmed this union. The speculation surrounding their relationship added to their mystique, fueling countless rumors and discussions during their peak years.

Recently. actress Sujata Mehta shared her insights on this highly talked-about affair, revisiting a story that has captivated fans for decades. She highlighted the emotional nuances of their bond and the challenges of being in the public eye while dealing with personal matters.

In an interview with Hindi Rush, Sujata Mehta reflected on Sridevi's relationship with Mithun Chakraborty. She recalled how Sridevi remained professional on set, fully focused on her scenes. However, Sujata revealed that behind her composed demeanor, Sridevi was deeply distressed. Between takes, she would quietly retreat to a corner, reflecting her inner turmoil.

Sujata said, "Maine kabhi nai pucha, and she used to be so disturbed but etni professional. Jaise camera on hota tha woh kisi ki nai. She was only for camera. Uske baad jake ek conei mei jaake baith jati thi. Zyada maine usko cheda nai. I didn't find it okay. Keh sakte hai ki breakup ne todh dia tha. Sri ko. They were madly in love I suppose. They got married so na. Shadi bhi huei thi. Aisa bolte hai (I never asked her, but she used to be so disturbed, yet so professional. As soon as the camera turned on, she belonged to no one but the camera. After the shot, she would go and sit quietly in a corner. I didn't disturb her much because I didn’t feel it was right. You could say that the breakup had broken her. Sri was deeply affected. They were madly in love, I suppose. They even got married, right? That's what people say)."

According to reports, in 1987, when Boney Kapoor became closer to Sridevi, Mithun Chakraborty's wife, Yogeeta Bali, discovered his alleged affair. Mithun, who was married to Yogeeta, has four children with her: Mimoh, Ushmey Chakraborty, Namashi Chakraborty, and an adopted daughter, Dishani Chakraborty.

Mithun Chakraborty and Sridevi reportedly crossed paths while working together on the film Jaag Utha Insaan. It was speculated that the two actors had a brief affair and even secretly married in a court ceremony in 1985. Despite claims that they were in a serious relationship, both stars denied any romantic involvement and dismissed the allegations of a secret marriage. However, according to reports, they separated when Mithun decided not to leave his wife, Yogeeta Bali and later Sridevi got their marriage annulled in 1988.

Sridevi then married Boney Kapoor in 1996 and they have two daughter, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi, the legendary Bollywood actress, tragically passed away on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54. She was found dead in her hotel room in Dubai, where she had attended the wedding.
