Wendell Pierce widely known for appearing on the hit legal drama series, “Suits” and the HBO’s highly acclaimed detective drama series ‘The Wire” was refused a rented apartment in Harlem, a neighborhood in New York that is famous for its cultural awareness, and political activism for African Americans.

The 60-year-old actor took to his X account (formerly Twitter) to express his disdain towards the white apartment owner who refused his application. Pierce said that even with his proof of employment, bank statements and real estate holdings the actor was denied to rent the apartment. He further added saying, “Racism and bigots are real.”

“For those of you who don’t understand my righteous anger; I’m on 2 TV series, ELSBETH and RAISING KANAN. I’m filming SUPERMAN. Two years ago, I finished the fourth season of JACK RYAN. Last year I finished a run on Broadway in DEATH OF A SALESMAN. Even with my proof of employment, bank statements and real estate holdings, a white apartment owner DENIED my application to rent the apartment…..in Harlem, of all places. Racism and bigots are real. There are those who will do anything to destroy life’s journey for Black folks. When you deny our personal experiences, you are as vile and despicable,” fulminated the actor.

The following Tuesday, Pierce gave his two cents on the recent US Federal court decision that prohibited a black-owned venture capital firm from granting funds solely to black female entrepreneurs in another post.

Pierce who played the father of Meghan Markle in the drama series “Suits" shared in a post, "While I appreciate the response to my own personal experience of discrimination in housing, I only mentioned it as an example of the insidious nature of bigotry." He went on to say, "This court decision is profoundly more disturbing and injurious. CALL TO ACTION.”

Wendell Pierce in terms of his career is set to be a part of the DCU action adventure film “Superman Legacy” directed by James Gunn (MCU’s Guardians of the Galaxy) while being spearheaded by David Corenswet as the Clark Kent alias.
