Vijay Sethupathi collaborates with Puri Jagannadh for a new film

One of the most recent announcements that made headlines for possible reasons was the collaboration of Vijay Sethupathi and Puri Jagannadh. While there was a section of the audience who was super excited about this collaboration, this collaboration has come as a shock to many who thought that Puri Jagannadh’s career had come to a halt.

Puri Jagannadh has delivered back-to-back disasters with Liger and Ismart Shankar 2. Though they hyped up the project very much, the content in the film failed to attract the audience and ended with the lowest possible collections at the box office.

Puri and Charmme Kaur have produced these films together. This made everyone wonder why Vijay Sethupathi said yes to him.

In a recent interview with ETimes, Vijay Sethupathi spoke about teaming up with Puri Jagannadh. When asked about what made him agree to do a film with Puri, who has been struggling to make a hit film at the box office, he said, “I do not look at the result of the previous movies of the director but I decide to do it if I like the story that is narrated to me.”

“I have not done a film like that in my past and I always want to pick new stories so that I do not repeat the same kind of content,” he added.

On the other hand, Charmme and Puri Jagannadh have shared that Tabu has also come on board for this film. Vijay Sethupathi is very excited about the film project he will be doing with Tabu because he considers her a wonderful performer and has never had the opportunity to work with her before, so he looks forward to this collaboration with a lot of enthusiasm.

At the same time, there is a strong buzz that Radhika Apte is going to play the female lead in this film.

According to Filmfare, the buzz is that the character requires someone formidable to be cast opposite Vijay Sethupathi, which is why the producers are reported to have approached Apte.

There is no official confirmation on this so far. If the reports are indeed correct, it will mean a comeback from Radhika Apte to South Indian cinema after quite some time. She was last seen in a special appearance with Vijay in the film Merry Christmas.
