Ajith Kumar's starrer Good Bad Ugly is earning a decent collection at the worldwide box office. The film received critical acclaim and praise from the audience. However, the movie has also faced some controversy over accusations of plagiarism.
Music composer Ilaiyaraaja recently sent a legal notice to the producers of Adhik Ravichandran’s directorial film. He demanded Rs 5 crore compensation for using his songs without his permission.
However, the producers recently reacted to the legal notice and claimed that they obtained permission from the music labels before using the song. They also have a no-objection certificate (NOC).
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Good Bad Ugly producer Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers insisted that they haven’t did anything wrong and used the songs with permission.
He said, “We have taken permission from all the music labels required for the songs we used in the film. The labels hold the rights, so we have followed protocol and taken NOCs from them. We have done things by the book.”

For the unversed, Ilaiyaraaja has complained in his notice that his songs, Otha Rubayum Tharen from Nattupura Pattu, Ilamai Idho Idho from Sakalakala Vallavan and En Jodi Manja Kuruvi from Vikram, were used in Good Bad Ugly without his permission or consent.
The music producer also demanded a writer apology and a compensation of Rs 5 crore, with the immediate removal of the songs from the film. Ilaiyaraaja has also sent legal notice to the makers of Manjummel Boys and Coolie for the rights of his music.
Good Bad Ugly has grossed Rs 171.50 crore worldwide and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year. The film also stars Trisha Krishnan in a pivotal role.
