Actress Swara Bhasker’s husband, politician Fahad Ahmad recently grabbed headlines after he described Kangana Ranaut as a “bad politician" during an interview.
During an interview where the couple was asked to assign hashtags to different celebrities, Fahad—who is a member of the NCP(SP)—said he would label Kangana with #BadPolitician, pointing out that she had failed to work for her constituency, Mandi, during the floods.
Speaking to Filmigyan, Fahad said, “I can’t comment on her because she is a bad politician, but I will say #BadPolitician."
“Because [of the] flood affected Mandi region (Kangana is a Lok Sabha MP from Mandi) but despite being an MP, she kept saying, ‘What can I do? I am not the Prime Minister. I’m not a Minister.’ A representative’s job is to talk to the government. She should have fought for special funds and gone beyond political vote," he added.
Swara appeared surprised at his comment, but Fahad went on to praise Kangana’s acting, saying that he admired her talent as an actress while still considering her a very poor politician.
For those unversed, Kangana Ranaut openly admitted earlier this year that she has not been enjoying her political journey. In a conversation on All India Radio’s Atmanirbhar in Ravi podcast, she spoke about the difficulties of her new role and acknowledged that politics has not really given her happiness.
She said, “I’m getting a hang of it. I wouldn’t say that I am enjoying it (politics). It’s a very different kind of work, more like social service. This hasn’t been my background. I’ve never thought of serving people."
Kangana Ranaut contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on a BJP ticket and emerged victorious from the Mandi constituency, defeating her Congress opponent Vikramaditya Singh by a margin of 74,755 votes.
Speaking of her film career, she was last seen in the film Emergency, based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was released in January 2025.
