A decade after it first lit up cinema halls, Tanu Weds Manu Returns is all set to return to the big screen, giving audiences a chance to relive one of Bollywood’s most beloved romantic comedies.
When the film first released in 2015, it was an instant phenomenon. Produced by Eros International and directed by Aanand L. Rai, it resonated with viewers due to its unique blend of romance, humour, and intricate narrative.
At its heart were Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan, whose chemistry anchored the film, while Kangana’s astonishing double role—playing both the carefree Tanu and the ambitious, determined Kusum “Datto”—was hailed as one of the finest performances of the decade.
From 26 September, moviegoers across India can once again laugh, cry and celebrate with Tanu, Manu and Datto, as PVR INOX brings this modern classic back to theatres.
She not only entertained but also challenged the way women were represented on screen, creating two of Indian cinema’s most memorable female characters.
Reflecting on the milestone, Pradeep Dwivedi, Group CEO of Eros Media World, said: “We are delighted to partner with PVR INOX for the re-release of 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' as it marks a decade since this cultural phenomenon first captivated audiences. This film represents everything we stand for at Eros - bold storytelling, authentic characters, and cinema that sparks meaningful conversations.”
The re-release of the movie serves as a reminder of how Tanu Weds Manu Returns inspired important discussions about liberty, individualism, and contemporary relationships in addition to being a source of nostalgia.
It became more than just a box office success thanks to its witty commentary, unreserved female voice, and lively music; it became a cultural icon that is still discussed today.
As part of PVR INOX’s ongoing effort to celebrate landmark films, Tanu Weds Manu Returns will be screened in select cinemas nationwide. Booking details and theatre listings will be made available soon via the PVR INOX app and website.
For fans who first watched it ten years ago, and for a new generation yet to discover its magic, the film’s comeback is an invitation to fall in love with Tanu, Manu and Datto all over again.
