The Kannada horror-comedy Su From So is preparing for its eagerly anticipated digital debut following an incredible run at the box office. With its peculiar blend of laughs and frights, the low-budget performer became one of the year's biggest surprise hits.
Industry reports state that Colors Kannada has acquired the film's satellite rights, while JioHotstar has acquired the digital streaming rights. The estimated cost of the multilingual digital and satellite deal is Rs 5.5 crore plus GST. To further expand the film's audience, the Telugu-dubbed version will also debut on Star Maa.
With a modest budget, the film has already made a significant impact at the box office, earning Rs 78.82 crore in India and Rs 106.08 crore globally. Its popularity demonstrates Kannada audiences' increasing desire for content-driven films.
Su From So, JP Thuminadu's first film, was written and directed by him. It stars Deepak Rai Panaje, Raj B Shetty, Sandhya Arakere, Prakash K. Thuminadu, Shaneel Gautham, Mime Ramdas, and others.
The story, which takes place in a small town, centers on Ravi, a young child whose naive crush starts a series of strange events that lead the locals to believe he is haunted. Sulochana from Someshwar, also referred to as "Su from So," enters the story and contributes both humor and terror.
The film has received accolades for its original plot, captivating narrative, and the novel soundtrack composed by debutante Sumedh K. Its impact was contrasted by viewers with that of other Kannada blockbusters, such as Raajakumara, 777 Charlie, Kantara, and even the KGF franchise.
Su From So, one of the biggest surprise hits in Kannada cinema this year, is anticipated to reach an even larger audience with its impending OTT release.
