Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, recently received a threatening encounter during his morning walk in Bandra, Mumbai on September 19.
According to reports, a man on a scooter accompanied by a female friend approached Salim Khan, stopped in front of him, and issued a direct threat citing jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's name in Mumbai's Bandra area, police said on Thursday.
The man reportedly asked, "Lawrence Bishnoi ko bheju kya?" (Should I send Lawrence Bishnoi?).
This incident took place during Salim Khan's regular morning walk, a time when he often enjoys some peaceful moments.
The incident took place when Salim Khan was sitting at the Bandra Bandstand promenade after his morning walk on Wednesday, following which the police detained the accused duo, an official said.
Once, during another morning walk, Salim Khan had also been targeted, which has heightened security concerns around the Khan family.
During their investigation, they told the police that they were playing mischief with Salim Khan, he said.
Salman Khan, in particular, has been a focus of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s threats, and authorities have been vigilant about their protection.

Salim Khan's bodyguards acted promptly, noting down the scooter's registration number. Thanks to their swift response, the Bandra Police were able to trace and arrest both the man and his female accomplice.
Salim Khan's bodyguard later lodged a complaint at the Bandra police station on Wednesday, based on which an case was registered.
The arrest has provided a sense of relief, but the authorities are continuing to investigate the potential motives behind the threat and whether it’s directly connected to Lawrence Bishnoi’s ongoing campaign against the Khan family.

In April this year, unknown assailants had fired at Salman Khan’s Bandra residence and Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi had taken responsibility for it.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang had previously issued threats to Salman Khan as well, over his alleged involvement in the blackbuck poaching case. The gang leader, Lawrence Bishnoi, reportedly harbors a personal vendetta against the actor.
With this latest incident, the Mumbai police are expected to increase security measures for Salim Khan and his family, ensuring their safety in the wake of repeated threats from this notorious gang. The investigation continues as the police delve deeper into this case.
