At the News18 Rising Bharat Summit held in Delhi on Tuesday, Sunny Deol, who was invited as a special guest, confirmed that he is actually playing Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana.

He also opened up in detail about portraying the role of Lord Hanuman and shared how he envisions bringing the character to life on screen.

At the summit, when asked about how he plans to portray the character of Hunumanji in the film, he said, "Every role is challenging or actors but the most fun part about it. The Gadar actor said, "Kahani jis tarah se screen pe dikhaya jaata hai humein us tarah se nibhana hota hai aur director ke hisab se chalna hota hai and definitely you have to get into characterisation tabhi log usse believe karenge ki hum woh character ko play karrahe hain. (The way the story is portrayed on screen, we have to perform it in that manner and follow the director’s vision. And definitely, you have to get into the character—only then will people believe that we are truly playing that role.)"

Speaking about the VFX and special effects to be used in the film, Sunny Deol further said, "Its a science-fiction kind of a take on special effects and everything, jaise Avatar mein this uss hisab se kuch characters honge. But it will be one of the mega films (It's a science-fiction kind of take with special effects and everything, like how it was in Avatar. There will be some characters along those lines. But it’s going to be one of the mega films.)"

Sunny Deol also shared insights into his approach to preparing for the role of Lord Hanuman. "Hanumanji ke baare mein sochkar, unhone jo jo cheezein ki hai, unki jo kahaniya hain, jis Tarah ki cheezein thi, use apne aandar rakhna hai and will try to live up to the character (Thinking about Lord Hanuman, the things he has done, the stories associated with him, and the kind of qualities he possessed—we have to embody all of that within ourselves and try to live up to the character.)
