Actor Pradeep Rawat recently shared his memories of working on the film 'Koyla,' directed by Rakesh Roshan and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. Rawat, known for his negative roles in the 80s and 90s, reminisced about his experiences on the set, particularly highlighting Shah Rukh Khan's smoking habits and Hrithik Roshan's early contributions to the film industry.
During an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Pradeep Rawat recalled that Hrithik Roshan, who worked as an assistant director on 'Koyla,' would often bring the script to comedian Johnny Lever's hotel room. "Hrithik Roshan was an assistant director in 'Koyla'. I remember Hrithik would come in the evening to give the script to Johnny Lever," Rawat said.
Rawat also shared his surprise at Shah Rukh Khan's chain-smoking habit during the filming of 'Koyla.' He said, "I wasn’t close to Shah Rukh during the shooting, but he was always well-mannered and a wonderful person. One thing I remember vividly is that I haven’t seen any actor smoke as much as he did. He would light a cigarette, use it to light another, and then light yet another one. He was a true chain smoker." Despite his heavy smoking, Rawat acknowledged Shah Rukh's unwavering dedication to his work, stating, "Nonetheless, his dedication to the film was undeniable."
Pradeep Rawat also fondly remembered Rakesh Roshan's generous nature during the shooting of the film. "Rakesh ji is a very large-hearted person and if any evening passed without a party, then it wasn’t a film shot by Rakesh Roshan. He used to call everyone and there would be food and everything. Then they would go to a disco. He would knock on everyone’s door and call everybody," he said.
The anecdotes shared by Pradeep Rawat provide a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes experiences of making 'Koyla.' Shah Rukh Khan's intense smoking habit, Hrithik Roshan's early involvement as an assistant director, and Rakesh Roshan's hospitality all contributed to the film's production. Despite the challenges, the dedication and passion of everyone involved were evident, leading to the successful completion of the movie.
Pradeep Rawat's recollections of the 'Koyla' shooting days offer an insightful look into the film's production. His stories about Shah Rukh Khan's smoking, Hrithik Roshan's script duties, and Rakesh Roshan's generosity highlight the unique dynamics on set.
