Bade Miyan Chote Miyan trailer: Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff battle Prithviraj Sukumaran's psychopath villain

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff set for a roller coaster ride in war against India's enemy in their forthcoming action film, slated for an Eid release.

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan will release on April 10.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar's large-scale in-camera action-packed Akshay Khanna and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, whose trailer released today, is not a sequel to the 1998 comedy film of the same name starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. Beyond the film's title and some buddy comedy elements, there are few similarities between the two films.

The new film by Ali Abbas Zafar, who is known for directing such films as Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Gunday (2014), Sultan (2016), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), showcases large-scale action set pieces, exotic locations, and glamorous dance sequences.

The new film, slated for an Eid release a day ahead of Ajay Devgn's Maidaan, is a globe-trotting action extravaganza in which Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff play elite soldiers on a mission to stop a vengeful, psychopath villain who wants to use an AI weapon to destroy India. The villain is no other than the Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran, who will soon be seen in the ambitious film Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life). Sukumaran was previously seen in the Rani Mukherjee-starrer Bollywood film Aiyyaa (2012).

The 3-minute trailer opens with the villain (Sukumaran), who introduces himself as ‘pralay (apocalypse)’. Seen in an ornate mask, the long-haired villain, who's stolen the “most powerful and dangerous weapon” from the Indian armed forces, wields a massive machine gun. The Army chief (Ronit Roy) then summons the only two people — Army officers played by the duo Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff — who can retrieve the said weapon. The two heroes perform high-stakes stunts, and engage in gunfights and car chases, explosions, combat sequences and even turn against each other, “Hum dono ek dusre ke liye jaan de sakte hain, par ek dusre ki jaan le bhi sakte hain (We can sacrifice our lives for our friendship and even take each other's lives if required),” they say.

Produced by Pooja Entertainment and AAZ Films and made on a reported budget of over Rs 300 crore, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan comes after Akshay Kumar faced criticism for shooting a string of recent films in-studio, with visual effects being used for set extensions. Both Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are known for their martial arts skills and have exhibited glimpses into the same in previous films.

The success of the movie will be critical for its cast. Akshay Kumar has had a rather rough last few years, with a string of flops that ended only with last year’s OMG 2. Even Tiger Shroff, Manushi Chillar and Alaya F are coming off major flops.

Manushi Chillar and Alaya F portray undercover asset and IT expert, respectively, who collaborate with Akshay and Tiger on the impossible mission. This is the first time Alaya is working with Akshay and Tiger. Manushi Chillar had earlier starred opposite Akshay Kumar in Samrat Prithviraj (2022). Bade Miyan Chote Miyan also stars Sonakshi Sinha as an Army official.
