Taylor Swift new song sparks buzz about lines related to Travis Kelce's ex

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has once again set the internet spinning with her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl — but it’s one track in particular, ‘Opalite’, that’s got everyone talking.

Fans are convinced the song takes subtle digs at Travis Kelce’s former partner, Kayla Nicole, thanks to its cutting lyrics and emotional tone.

The song, which is part of Swift’s twelve-track album, features the lines: “You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose.”

Though Taylor hasn’t said who inspired the song, many listeners believe these lyrics hint at Kelce’s previous relationship. As per India Today, media outlets have even pointed out that “the ‘she was in her phone’ line in the song seemed to be a jab at Nicole, in connection to Kelce publicly slamming his former partner for being a little too much on the phone when they dated.”

As chatter around the track grew louder, Kayla Nicole took to Instagram with a few cryptic posts that fans quickly interpreted as her response. In one post, she wrote, “What an honor to share a table with some of the most iconic ‘girlfriends’ of all time. Women whose art has been a mirror and a reminder of what’s possible at every stage of my womanhood.”

Nicole followed up with a short clip from America’s Next Top Model, where Tyra Banks asks Eva Marcille, “How do you compare yourself to the other girls out there?” to which Eva replies, “I don’t compare myself to other girls. I’m Eva. I’m no comparison to anyone else.”

If that wasn’t clear enough, she later posted a meme that read, “And when God give you ball, BALL.” Fans quickly flooded her comments, praising her calm and self-assured attitude amid the storm.

Neither Swift nor Nicole has directly addressed the speculation, but that hasn’t stopped fans from dissecting every lyric and post. Some entertainment outlets have even claimed that “the diss track was about the NFL star,” though nothing has been confirmed.

Whatever the truth, one thing is for sure: Taylor Swift has once again succeeded in making her music a topic of discussion around the world.
