Bollywood director and producer Farah Khan recently on the Great Indian Kapil Show confessed that when she had quite a lot to drink, and was under the influence of alcohol, went and yelled at a DJ at a part she had hosted for the British pop artist, Ed Sheeran.

On the variety talk show, Kapil recounted an incident where Farah extended an invitation to Ed, only to later not recognize him. “Farah is such a great host that sometimes, she invites guests and then fails to recognise them. Once, Ed Sheeran had visited her. She didn’t recognise him,” said Kapil. Farah then explained that this was not true.

A few years back, while Ed Sheeran was on a concert tour in India, an amusing incident unfolded. Farah Khan, who hosted a lavish party attended by the global pop star, had no idea who he was. In the recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the “Happy New year” director shared a hilarious anecdote, wherein at her own party, Farah got annoyed with the DJ, accusing him of playing "funeral music." Unbeknownst to her, the tunes she was criticizing were actually hits from the “Shape of You" singer himself.

“No, I recognised him, that’s not true. When Ed Sheeran had come, we all got a little drunk. The DJ was playing something. In my intoxicated state, I went up to the DJ and abused him a little. I asked him, ‘Kya maiyyat ke gaane baja raha hai (Why are you playing these funeral songs)’ The DJ then told me, ‘Ma’am yeh Ed Sheeran ke gaane baja raha hoon (I am playing Ed Sheeran songs).’ ‘Oh, Ed Sheeran ke gaane? Baja baja (Oh, these are Ed Sheeran songs. Go ahead and play),’” to which she then said breaking into a laugh.

Ed has traveled to India on multiple occasions, and Farah has organized two parties in his honor. The initial celebration took place in 2017, where Farah extended invitations to numerous Bollywood celebrities such as Malaika Arora, Abhishek Bachchan, and Shah Rukh Khan. During Ed's most recent visit this year, Farah teamed up with SRK to throw a dinner party for him at SRK's Bandra residence, Mannat. The event's photos and videos quickly spread across social media.

She recounted how a cousin, employed as a lawyer at a music company, requested her help in showing Ed around Mumbai during his trip to India for his concerts. "I didn’t know who Ed Sheeran was so I thought it was one of his friends. I didn’t bother," she admitted. When her cousin followed up on the request, Farah ignored it once more. Then when her aunt also inquired about the matter, Farah, puzzled by the persistent follow-ups, turned to Abhishek Bachchan for clarification. She asked him, "Who is Ed Sheeran?" to which Abhishek replied, "He’s just the number one singer in the world.”

Last week, Ed made an appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he shared his experience of meeting Shah Rukh Khan. Reflecting on their previous encounter in 2017, Ed remarked, "The last time I came here in 2017 we met, but this time it was just wonderful. He is such a nice guy, for how big he is, he is just lovely. I had a lot of fun, I met his family, and we jammed out some songs. They taught me how to dance a little bit," Ed recounted with a smile.
