In Bengaluru, on July 3, the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) expressed serious concerns about a photo circulating on social media. The photo showed a child dressed as a jail inmate, with the prisoner number 6106, suggesting Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa. The KSCPCR has directed the cyber crime police to take action regarding this matter.

Darshan Thoogudeepa, along with his friend Pavithra Gowda and 15 others, is currently held in the Central jail at Parappana Agrahara in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

The image of the child, which included a hand-written note saying "Jai D. Boss" next to it—an apparent reference to Darshan—was posted by an Instagram user who claimed it was "trending."

K Naganna Gowda, the Chairperson of the KSCPCR, wrote a letter to the Cyber Crime Division of the Criminal Investigation Department, urging them to take action against those who shared the photographs.

"We don't even call children accused or criminals even when they do something wrong unknowingly. We refer to them as 'children involved in a legal fight.' Such negative impacts should not fall upon children," Gowda stated in his letter.

"Instead of providing a supportive environment for children, we should not impose our love or blind admiration for someone on them," he added.

The KSCPCR emphasized the importance of protecting children's rights and ensuring they are not used inappropriately in social media trends or campaigns, especially in contexts that could harm their well-being or reputation. The cyber crime police have been urged to investigate and take necessary actions to prevent such incidents from recurring.
