Actor Shilpa Shirodkar is enjoying her return to the big screen with Jatadhara, a mythological horror film that also stars Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha. As part of her promotional rounds, Shilpa opened up about her family, particularly her brother-in-law, superstar Mahesh Babu, praising him for his rare humility and generosity in a world known for fierce competition.

During her conversation with Prema, Shilpa couldn’t stop gushing about Mahesh. “He is family and is one of the kindest souls I’ve met. As an actor, I’m a fan of Mahesh. He is my brother-in-law and he is…I mean, you know what? Honestly, he is one person I would say who only wants the best for everyone. There’s no malice, there’s no jealousy, there’s no envy. He is just what you see of him,” she said with affection.

Her admiration reflects what many in the industry often note about Mahesh Babu — his ability to stay grounded and encouraging even at the peak of stardom. Shilpa added that he never hesitates to appreciate other actors or filmmakers and is genuinely happy about their success. His frequent social media posts celebrating movies from other industries are proof of that.

When asked if she would ever act in one of Mahesh’s films, Shilpa laughed and replied, “No, I haven’t crossed that path yet. But maybe if this film does well…I haven’t asked him about it.” The actress hinted that she’s open to the idea but hasn’t discussed it within the family yet.

For those who don’t know, Shilpa’s sister Namrata Shirodkar, a former Miss India and actor, has been married to Mahesh for over twenty years. The couple has two children, Gautam and Sitara, both of whom are showing early interest in cinema.

Shilpa, who stepped away from films after her marriage and the 2000 release Gaja Gamini, made her television debut later with shows like Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Savitri Devi College & Hospital. She briefly returned to films with the 2020 action drama Guns of Banaras.

Mahesh Babu was last seen in Trivikram Srinivas’s Guntur Kaaram in early 2024 and is currently collaborating with SS Rajamouli on a massive action-adventure project tentatively titled SSMB 29, also starring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
