On August 15, 2025, Maddock Films turned the spotlight on two celebrations — India’s 79th Independence Day and the first anniversary of its blockbuster Stree 2.

Using the occasion, producer Dinesh Vijan announced the next big chapter in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe — Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The announcement came via an Instagram post featuring a special video montage of moments from Maddock’s previous horror-comedy hits, teasing a dark and powerful new antagonist.

The caption hinted at something unprecedented: “The World of Thama unveils Tuesday, Aug 19 your first glimpse at the sarvashaktishaali villain set to redefine fear. The film storms into cinemas this Diwali 2025. Brace yourself — this chapter is a love story, wilder and deadlier than anything you’ve seen before.”

Billed as a supernatural love story, Thama promises to blend Maddock’s signature mix of folklore-driven horror with humour and heartfelt storytelling, while adding an intense romantic core. The “sarvashaktishaali” (meaning all-powerful) villain is expected to be central to the plot, pushing the boundaries of fear within the franchise’s already established universe.

Since Stree (2018), Maddock Films has built a unique space in Bollywood with its Horror-Comedy Universe, delivering hits like Roohi (2021), Bhediya (2022), Munjya (2024), and Stree 2 (2024).

Each instalment has combined supernatural scares with quirky humour and a strong cultural backdrop. With Thama, the makers appear ready to raise the stakes by intertwining a deep love story with elements of chilling horror.

The first look at Thama’s much-hyped villain will be revealed on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, just ahead of its grand Diwali release. Given Maddock’s track record, the film is poised to be a major cinematic event, promising a rollercoaster of fear, love, and spectacle for audiences.
