Amitabh Bachchan recalls wife Jaya Bachchan hosting KBC, says “aise aise chaanta maara unhone humko"

Kaun Banega Crorepati season 17 host Amitabh Bachchan kicked off his most recent episode by wishing the devotees a very happy Navratri.

During the episode, the veteran actor also reminisced with fondness about a memorable occasion in which his wife, Jaya Bachchan, an actor and politician, served as host for a day and allowed him to experience what it was like to be in the contestant's chair.

During the episode, contestant Pallavi Niphadkar asked Amitabh Bachchan if he had ever sat in the contestant's seat, to which he responded with yes. He then recalled the episode when Jaya Bachchan stepped in as the host.

Amitabh Bachchan then joked that sitting across from one's wife is enough to leave anyone speechless, recalling how the experience left him anxious and unable to speak.

He said, "Humari bolti he band thi, aise aise chaanta maara unhone humko. (I was left speechless; she slapped me left and right with her questions)."

Jaya Bachchan had previously taken him by surprise on the show. She and Abhishek Bachchan made an appearance on KBC in season 14 to commemorate Amitabh's 80th birthday.

During the episode, Jaya Bachchan trolled Amitabh Bachchan and said, “Aapko zindagi mein sabse accha kya lagta hai? (What do you like the most in life?) The veteran actor responded with his signature wit, "Ab yeh show sarvajanik ho raha hai, yeh galat baat hogyi hai (Now that this has gone public on the show, this is unfair)."

For the unversed, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan crossed paths for the first time at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). The couple have also shared screen space in several movies like Guddi (1971) and Zanjeer (1973).

They sparked romance in the early 1970s and exchanged vows on 3 June 1973. They have been together for over five decades and are proud parents to actor Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Shweta Bachchan, and grandparents to Aaradhya Bachchan, Navya Nanda, and Agastya Nanda.
