Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday are set to collaborate on a biopic co-produced by Dharma Productions, as recently announced on the production banner’s social media platforms.
The film is based on C. Sankaran Nair, a renowned lawyer and statesman, and is scheduled to release in theaters on March 14, 2025. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the movie is inspired by the book The Case That Shook The Empire, written by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. It delves into the story of C. Sankaran Nair and the "shocking cover-up of a massacre" that motivated the top barrister's actions.
C. Sankaran Nair served as the Advocate General of Madras between 1906 and 1908 and was elected President of the Indian National Congress in 1897. In 1922, he authored Gandhi and Anarchy. The film, though yet to be titled, is rumored to be named Shankara.
Dharma Productions first announced the biopic in June 2021, with production beginning in November 2022. This marks another historical drama from the studio, highlighting an important figure from India's legal and political history.
Alongside this biopic, Dharma Productions is working on several other major projects. Their latest release, Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedanf Raina, is currently in theaters.

Additionally, Dharma is preparing for an untitled project by director Sandeep Modi, scheduled for release on Independence Day next year.
With these exciting projects lined up, Dharma Productions continues to make a significant mark in the Indian film industry, showcasing a wide range of stories from historical dramas to contemporary films.
