Have you ever thought about using lemons for more than just adding a tangy flavour to your foods and beverages? For those who might not know, lemons can be extremely helpful in sprucing up your bathroom in a number of ways. They not only act as a cleaning agent due to the presence of citric acid, but also add a fresh fragrance to your space for a spa-like feel. This festive season, give your bathroom that extra touch of shine by going all out with the multipurpose fruit.

Lemon for cleaning: If you want to make your bathroom appear squeaky clean to guests, it is time to clean some of the hard stains and scum that gather over time. Lemon works as an effective cleaning agent, especially when combined with baking soda or salt.

  • Soap scum

To remove soap scum, cut a lemon in half and dip it in baking soda. Rub it on all surfaces that require cleaning. This can also be done with the help of a sponge. The citric acid in the lemon reacts with the baking soda and helps break down dirt and bacteria. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then scrub the affected areas. Rinse thoroughly to get rid of the scum.
  • Faucets

Who doesn’t like the idea of clean faucets? Whether they are made of chrome or copper, cleaning them with lemon can make them sparkly. Cut a lemon in half and scrub it on the faucet, ensuring it goes through all the parts and the acidic juice dissolves the grease and mineral deposits. Wipe clean with a microfibre cloth.
  • Glass and mirrors

Clean your glass and mirrors by squeezing 3 tablespoons of lemon juice into a spray bottle along with a cup of water. Shake the bottle for a good mix and spray it onto mirrors and glasses that need cleaning. Wipe using a microfibre cloth to finish the process.

Lemon for fragrance: Lemons can make any space smell fresh and fabulous. They are used for getting rid of stubborn smells, and their clean odour adds to the appeal of any bathroom. Place cut lemon slices on a simple dish or decorative item and keep them on the bathroom cabinet, shelf, or towel rack near the shower. Replace with fresh ones when the smell begins to fade. Alternatively, you can use lemon diffusers and oil for a nice scent.

Alternatively, using lemon-scented bathroom supplies also works as a great idea for a smell that lingers long after you’ve left the bathroom. You can buy soaps and shampoos that do the job perfectly well.
