The Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are scheduled to be held in multiple phases. The voting started on April 19 and will continue until June 1, 2024.
The results of the Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024 will be declared on June 4, 2024. On this day, the counting of votes will commence, and the final results are expected to be announced by the end of the day. This declaration will reveal the winners of all constituencies in Bihar and will significantly shape the overall outcome of the national elections.
The Bihar Lok Sabha Election Exit Poll Results 2024 will be declared on June 1, 2024, immediately after the conclusion of the final phase of voting. These exit polls, conducted by various agencies and media houses, provide an early indication of the possible outcomes based on voter surveys conducted at polling stations.
Bihar has a total of 40 Lok Sabha seats. These constituencies are crucial for any party or coalition aiming to secure a majority in the Lok Sabha, given Bihar's significant contribution to the total number of parliamentary seats.
Key candidates in the Bihar Lok Sabha Elections 2024 include several prominent political figures. Nitish Kumar (JD(U)) may play a significant role, though he typically focuses on state politics. Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, is a key candidate, likely contesting from Patna Sahib. Other notable figures include Chirag Paswan (LJP), contesting from Jamui, and Shatrughan Sinha (INC), who is expected to contest from a key constituency. Additionally, BJP leaders like Ravi Shankar Prasad and Sushil Kumar Modi are expected to be prominent candidates.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), achieved a significant victory in Bihar. The NDA won 39 out of the 40 seats, with the BJP securing 17, JD(U) winning 16, and LJP taking 6 seats. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Indian National Congress (INC) did not secure any seats in Bihar, reflecting the dominance of the NDA in the state during that election cycle.

Bihar -- which witnessed a political turmoil after Chief Minister and Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar dumped ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to join hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- will once again be one of the most watched out seat in the Lok Sabha election 2024. The state stands at the fourth spot in terms of the number of seats in Lok Sabha. With 40 seats, Bihar comes right after Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and West Bengal and it can turn the trends of the general election at any point of time. In 2019, the BJP, JD(U) and undivided Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) fought the Lok Sabha elections together, bagging 39 of the 40 seats. The BJP won 17, JD(U) bagged 16 and LJP secured six seats. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan (Congress, RJD and Rashtriya Lok Samta Party) won only one seat, which went to a Congress candidate. In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, the JD(U) contested alone and won just two seats. Meanwhile, the BJP, which contested in an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), won 31 seats. There was a major turmoil in the state as months before the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Nitish Kumar dumped the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) and the INDIA bloc in order to form a new government with the support of BJP in Bihar. It was for the second time in two years that the JD(U) chief jumped the ship with a promise that he would now stay in the NDA fold forever and will continue to work for the people of his state. It remains to be seen whether Nitish Kumar's move to the BJP will have an impact on the newly-formed INDIA alliance or not.
