How much will Nitish Kumar earn as Bihar CM?

Before becoming Chief Minister, he served multiple terms as MLA, MP, and even as a Union Minister. According to the latest asset declaration on December 31 last year, the CM’s net worth was around Rs 1.64 crore. His cash-in-hand was Rs 21,052, and he had bank deposits worth Rs 60,811. Various reports also suggested that the CM owns  13 cows and 10 calves. He also has a Ford EcoSport car.

What will he earn as CM?

According to News18, Kumar will earn a salary of Rs 2.5 lakh, which includes housing, office, security, and other legislator-related facilities. Ministers receive a monthly salary of Rs 65,000 and a regional allowance of Rs 70,000.

Pension as an MLA

The pension rules for MLAs and MLCs are the same, and the calculation follows a structure similar to that of MPs.

The News18 reported that by adding the initial Rs 45,000 for his first term, his total legislator pension amounts to Rs 1,38,000. Combining this with his MP pension, Kumar’s total pension is Rs 2,03,000.

The take-home salary of Bihar MLAs ranges from Rs 1.4 to Rs 1.5 lakh per month, which includes  Rs 50,000 as a basic salary, Rs 55,000 as a constituency allowance, Rs 40,000 for a personal assistant, and Rs 15,000 for stationery. They also receive Rs 3,000 daily during assembly or committee meetings.

Telangana and Maharashtra offer the highest salaries at about Rs 2.5 lakh per month. States such as Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh offer similar benefits to those in Bihar, while Tripura and Kerala pay the lowest.
