Mahindra introduced the XUV 3XO REVX variant in July.

Homegrown SUV manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced Dolby Atmos in the XUV 3XO, adding it to the recently-launched REVX A variant. This has made the XUV 3XO the first SUV in the world to offer the sound system for less than Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).

For reference, the price of the REVX A variant starts at Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from the REVX A variant, Dolby Atmos has been added to the AX5L, AX7 and AX7L variants as well. All four variants with Dolby Atmos will be available from mid-September.

The Dolby Atmos system offers a six-speaker audio layout. However, the top-spec AX7L variant gets an additional subwoofer for deeper bass and enhanced sound clarity.

Priced between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 15.79 lakh (ex-showroom), the Mahindra XUV 3XO is based in the compact SUV segment and rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.

The XUV 3XO is the fourth Mahindra SUV, after BE 6, XEV 9e and Thar Roxx, to feature Dolby Atmos.

Mahindra has been loading its SUVs with a lot of creature comforts. The XUV 3XO, for that matter, gets features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, and panoramic sunroof. It is also the maiden model in its segment to get Level 2 ADAS.

Safety features like six airbags, electronic stability control and rear disc brakes are standard across all the variants of the XUV 3XO, which has also scored a 5-star safety rating at Bharat NCAP.

The XUV 3XO gets as many as three engine options -- 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi petrol, 1.2-litre mStallion TGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDe diesel. The TCMPFi unit delivers 111PS and 200Nm, the TGDi unit generates 130PS and 230Nm, and the CRDe unit is good for 117PS and 300Nm. As far as transmission is concerned, a 6-speed MT is standard. While the TCMPFi and TGDi units have a 6-speed AT (torque converter) option, the CRDe unit can be had with a 6-speed AMT.
