Terminator 2D No Fate, the next game in the Terminator sci-fi universe, has suffered a delay, with its release date now pushed to October 31, 2025. Announced in late February, the 2D side-scrolling action game by Bitmap Bureau and Reef Entertainment had an initial launch date of September 5, 2025.
Based on the sci-fi landmark film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the 2D side-scrolling Terminator game features three iconic playable characters: Sarah Connor, the T-800 and John Connor.
In a website post, Reef Entertainment noted:
“Terminator 2D: NO FATE will now be releasing on October 31, 2025.
Coordinating and manufacturing the physical release has been a longer process than we anticipated, and as a result, we’ve had to delay the release of the game. We apologise, and thank you for bearing with us.
This delay will also give the team at Bitmap Bureau extra time to apply some final polish to the game itself and we would like all players to have the opportunity to experience the best version of T2D together. As such, this delay will apply to both physical and digital versions of the game.
From the moment we announced T2D, the response has been absolutely amazing, humbling, and truly much greater than anything we could have ever expected. So, to all of you, thank you so much for your support. We know that this news is disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding.
We are dedicated to delivering the best release possible for Terminator 2D: NO FATE, and we look forward to sharing more of the game with you soon.”
In Terminator 2D: No Fate, Sarah Connor is a melee combat expert and can also use firearms. The game expands upon the lore of John Connor and introduces an adult John Connor in the Future War missions leading the human Resistance against Skynet.
As per the devs, John Connor’s gameplay “emphasizes strategic mid-to-long-range combat, using a plasma rifle, pipe bombs, and three ammo types. He’s less agile than Sarah but can execute a tactical roll to evade attacks”.
The T-800, while not as fast and agile as Sarah and John, has a “devastating shoulder barge” and “compensates for slower speed with high durability, taking significant damage before going down”, Reef Entertainment noted in an earlier blog post.
Terminator 2D: No Fate will launch across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).
