2009’s open-world action game Prototype might get a remastered version, as per a report by PC Gamer. Developed by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision, the action game with over-the-top and fluid parkour was received well by players and is now considered a classic.
The reason for this speculation? The mention of Iron Galaxy Studios in the updated credits of the Steam version of Prototype. Recently, both Prototype and Prototype 2 have received surprise Steam updates (600 MB each).
Iron Galaxy Studios has a history of remastering old titles for Activision. Examples include Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, the Spyro Reignited trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. There is also a reference to a Ubisoft Connect version in the credits of the Steam version of Prototype.
The addition of both Iron Galaxy Studios and Ubisoft Connect in the updated credits hints at a possible remaster of Prototype, although there’s been no confirmation from Activision or Microsoft in this regard.
In Prototype, you play as Alex Mercer, a genetically mutated shape-shifter who has a special power to consume the physical identity, abilities and memories of anybody at any time. Alex can take anyone’s form and reconfigure his body in various ways. However, if he has such powers, why doesn’t he remember anything? Alex has no memory of his past and must find out how he got such powers.
The action game features over-the-top, adaptive parkour movements. You can leap easily from building to building and even run up walls in the open world of New York City.
It is worth mentioning that Prototype was re-released earlier, in 2015, as the Prototype: Biohazard Bundle for PS4 and Xbox One. The Prototype Biohazard Bundle includes Prototype and Prototype 2, along with the DLC.
