Indie game developer “To The Sky” and Sweden-based publisher Thunderful Games have announced that their 4-player co-op action hack’n’slash game “Godbreakers” will launch on October 23 on PS5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). Godbreakers is compatible with the Steam Deck.
The developers will make an updated game demo available for PC (via Steam) starting October 9. The Godbreakers demo will be updated with a new biome, new boss, new miniboss and optional modifiers.
In a press statement, To The Sky CEO and Executive Producer Jugo Mirkovic said, “We’re grateful for the opportunity to finally share that GODBREAKERS will be arriving on PC and PlayStation 5 this October 23. Our goal has always been to create a game that’s immediately fun to pick up, while opening up for players to uncover depth the more they experiment. With responsive combat, cancelable actions, and abilities that you can combine in countless ways, we hope fans of hack-n-slash and roguelite games will find plenty of room to push the limits and experience those sweaty palm moments that we cherish. We’re excited to see the creative builds and strategies players discover once the game is in your hands this October 23.”
Godbreakers is the first game by To The Sky studio. The hack’n’slash game allows up to four players to band together in “fast-paced, chaotic battles” against enemies and powerful game bosses. As a team, you can “chain together strikes, dashes, and abilities,” which will also unlock new weapons. You can also “cancel moves mid-action for precise control in real time”.
In Godbreakers, you can absorb the powers of the enemies while fighting. The developers call this the "Godbreak". In the four-player co-op game, you will fight on six “surreal biomes, each filled with unique enemies, deadly hazards, and challenges.”
Godbreakers can be played solo, but the developers recommend playing it with friends.
