US President Donald Trump on Tuesday reiterated that he ended eight wars globally within the first 10 months of returning to the Oval Office, including what he described as a potential nuclear conflict between India and Pakistan in May 2025.
One of the remarks which stood out from his speech, and later went viral on social media, was the claim that Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif "would have died" if it weren't for his intervention during the conflict.
"In my first 10 months, I ended eight wars... Pakistan and India would have had a nuclear war. 35 million people said the Prime Minister of Pakistan would have died if it were not for my involvement," he said.

While netizens were quick to mock Pakistan after Trump's remarks, some pointed out that he may have misspoke during the address. Trump has repeatedly recalled how the Pakistani PM told him that "35 million people would have died" had he not allegedly brokered a ceasefire between the two countries last year.
While Trump said that "35 million people told him that Pakistani PM would have died" without his involvement, he most likely meant that "35 million people would have died" had he not intervened – similar to several past claims made by him.
In his speech, Trump added that Sharif “pleaded” for his intervention with him during Operation Sindoor.
India has repeatedly rejected claims of Trump's intervention during the four-day escalation in May 2025, saying that the ceasefire was a result of direct talks between the DGMOs of both the sides.
In the past, however, Shehbaz Sharif and his ministers have credited Donald Trump for stopping the war and averting a potential nuclear conflict. Pakistan even recommended a Nobel Peace Prize for Trump for his so-called mediation during Operation Sindoor.
During the address, Trump also touted his efforts to end conflicts worldwide. The US President pointed to multiple flashpoints, including West Asia. Referring to the fragile ceasefire arrangement in the Gaza Strip, he said, “I negotiated every single hostage, both living and dead, has been returned home. Can you believe that? Nobody thought it was possible.”
