Samsung has introduced a new Medication tracking feature in its Samsung Health app for users in India. The feature is designed to help users monitor their prescribed and over-the-counter medication regimens and offers useful tips about intake.
Samsung has confirmed that the new Medication tracking feature in Samsung Health is now rolling out via the Google Play Store. The feature is available on smartphones with Android 10.0 or later and requires Samsung Health app version 6.28 or higher.
The Medications feature allows users to enter the name of a specific medication and receive information, including general descriptions and potential side effects. It is particularly useful for managing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, PCOS, and PCOD, where timely adherence to medication is essential.
In addition to tracking doses, the app also guides possible adverse reactions from drug-to-drug interactions and offers safety recommendations. Users can set up personalized alerts to remind them when to take medications and refill prescriptions. These reminders can be customized based on individual needs, with the Samsung Health app offering different levels of notification urgency.
The Medication tracking feature also works with Galaxy Watch where users can receive the notification on their wrist and manage their medication schedules without the phone.
The Medication feature was developed by Samsung's R&D, Design, and Consumer Experience teams, with a focus on the specific needs of Indian consumers. Information provided in the feature is licensed from Tata 1mg.
Samsung Health already includes a range of wellness features, such as sleep management, mindfulness programs, and irregular heart rhythm notifications. The new Medications feature expands Samsung's commitment to providing holistic health management through its connected devices and services.
