The BCCI ended suspense surrounding Nitish Kumar Reddy's injury, which he sustained while training indoors ahead of the Manchester Test, which starts from Wednesday. The cricket body released an official statement, confirming the all-rounder will be leaving for India, while wishing him a speedy recovery.
"All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home and the team wishes him a speedy recovery," the statement read.
Meanwhile, BCCI also confirmed Arshdeep Singh will not be taking part in the fourth Test. Arshdeep got hurt while training at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham. The pacer was bowling alongside Prasidh Krishna when the incident occurred. He injured his bowling hand in an attempt to a stop a ball that came in his way from Sai Sudharsan's bat. The left-arm pacer was seen walking around with bandage on his left-hand.
"Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test against England at Manchester. He sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets at a training session in Beckenham. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress," the statement read further.
Meanwhile, Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad. "The Men’s Selection Committee has added Anshul Kamboj to the squad. Kamboj has joined the team in Manchester. The fourth Test will kickstart on July 23, 2025," it concluded.
Kamboj is a worthy addition to the squad and was impressive for India A against England Lions in the two matches played before the official Test series began. He took five wickets across four innings at Northampton and Canterbury while moving the ball appreciably and finding disconcerting bounce on occasions.
India’s updated squad for fourth Test: Shubman Gill (C), Rishabh Pant (VC & WK), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Anshul Kamboj
