Office-goers will attest to this that having one samosa on pretty much a daily basis is just the norm. When one is swamped with work, one rarely gives a conscious thought to what they are eating. Stuffed with potatoes and fried in oil (which we don't know how old it is), a Delhi-based cardiologist's, Dr Shailesh Singh, post about 'Rs 20 samosa Vs Rs 3 lakh angioplasty' has gained a lot of traction.

He shares that the average cost of samosa is around Rs 20. For someone who eats it regularly, that is at least 300 times in a year, for over a period of 15 years, he would end up spending over Rs 90,000. One would think that it is such a nominal cost. However, the doctor has a warning here. He said, “You’re not saving money on unhealthy food... you’re taking a loan against your arteries at 400% interest.” Well, if you didn't get the cue, then you must know that he was talking about the Rs 3 lakh loan that one would have to take for angioplasty.

Take a look at his post:

Come to think of it, it is true. A lot of us, busy in the hustle and bustle of our lives, fail to pay attention to our eating habits and overall well-being. Unless there's some grave immediate health concern, we often tend to take our health for granted.

The doctor shared that people make endless excuses and delay prioritizing their health. The result? Unexpected health problems due to one's careless attitude.

FAQs on bad effects of having samosa on a daily basis:

1. Is it harmful to eat samosa every day?

Yes. Eating samosa daily can be harmful because it’s deep-fried and high in unhealthy fats, refined flour (maida), and calories. Over time, this can increase the risk of obesity, high cholesterol, and heart disease.

2. Can daily samosa consumption cause digestive problems?

Yes. The oil and refined flour used in samosas are difficult to digest, which can lead to bloating, acidity, and constipation if eaten frequently.

3. Does eating samosa every day affect heart health?

Definitely. Regular consumption of fried and oily foods like samosas can raise bad cholesterol (LDL) levels, increasing the risk of heart problems and high blood pressure.

4. Can daily intake of samosas lead to weight gain?

Yes. A single samosa can contain 250–400 calories, and eating them daily adds up quickly, contributing to weight gain and fat accumulation.

5. Are homemade samosas healthier for daily eating?

While homemade versions can be slightly healthier if baked and made with whole wheat flour and less oil, eating them daily is still not recommended. Moderation is key for maintaining balanced nutrition.
