Punjab Kings are set to host Rajasthan Royals at Mullanpur in the 27th match of IPL 2024 today. The night match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM IST.
The tournament is still in its early league stage but the surfaces have played an important role in almost all the matches. Mullanpur have the best pitch so far for the pacers in the IPL 2024. A total of 30 wickets have fallen in two matches so far out of which 23 have been picked up by the pacers.
At 19.7, Mullanpur has the best average for pace bowlers and at 7.7 lowest run rate in the powerplay. As many as 9 wickets have fallen in the first six overs in 2 matches played here so far.
PBKS vs RR: Pace Battery
Rajasthan Royals have started IPL 2024 in stronger note than any other team in the tournament. They have won 4 out of their 5 matches played so far. They were beaten by Gujarat Titans in their last match in a nail-biting finish at Jaipur. In RR victories so far, pace bowlers have picked up nine wickets in the powerplay at an average of 24.3 which is the best among any team in the tournament.
Punjab Kings are also matching this performance. Averaging 26.6 runs per wicket in the powerplay, PBKS vs RR make for an interesting battle up top.
PBKS vs RR: Injury Woes
Liam Livingstone’s fitness will be a concern for Punjab Kings as they lock horns with Rajasthan today. Their coach remained non-committal and informed that a decision will be taken tomorrow. However, it seems unlikely that Livingstone will be available for the team today.
Kings have been consistent in subbing out Arshdeep Singh for Prabhsimran Singh or Ashutosh Sharma and vice-versa and that is likely to remain unchanged.
For Rajasthan Royals, Nandre Burger was out injured in previous game against Gujarat Titans. Trent Boult bowled just two overs and was not brought back in the death. Boult's health will be a major concern for Royals as they take on the Kings.
The Battle: Shashank Singh vs Chahal
The audience would keenly await the battle between Shashank Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal as Punjab Kings take on Rajastahn Royals. Shashank Singh played 2 awesome knocks in his last two innings while Chahal is on a mission to get batsmen trapped out in the middle overs. It would be interesting to see who wins this battle.
