IPL 2025: In bad news for Mumbai Indians, their star fast bowler and India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is probably only going to join the team camp in April, and he might miss the first week or two of the upcoming IPL edition. According to a report in the Times of India, after missing the current Champions Trophy because of a lower back ailment, Bumrah is receiving rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

"Bumrah's medical reports are okay. He has resumed bowling at the CoE. However, it is unlikely he'll be able to bowl at the start of the IPL in another fortnight. As per current status, the first week of April looks a more realistic date for him to get back to high-intensity cricket," the report quoted a BCCI source as saying.

In that case, Bumrah is probably going to miss MI's first three or four games. It has been discovered that Bumrah is yet to begin bowling at full pace.

"It's standard operating procedure. The medical team will gradually build up his workload and intensity. Unless he is able to bowl full tilt without any discomfort for some days, the medical team is unlikely to clear him," the source added.

Bumrah is the backbone of Mumbai Indians' (MI) bowling attack, and his absence can significantly impact their performance.

Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in the world when it comes to the death overs. His ability to nail yorkers under pressure makes him MI's go-to bowler in crunch situations. Without him, MI could struggle to contain runs in the final overs.

Bumrah is a proven match-winner who can break partnerships at any stage of the game. His ability to strike early in the powerplay and return to take crucial wickets later is invaluable.

With years of IPL experience, Bumrah provides leadership to MI's bowling unit. He guides young bowlers and helps Rohit Sharma (or the captain) with bowling strategies.

His pace, accuracy, and swing make him a potent threat in the powerplay, often putting opposition teams under early pressure. Without him, MI might have to rely on less-experienced bowlers to fill the void.

While MI has backup options, no one can replicate Bumrah's skill set. His absence for even a few matches could affect MI's campaign, especially in tight contests where his overs often turn the game in their favor.

If Bumrah does miss the first two weeks, MI will have to find alternative strategies to compensate for his absence, possibly relying on overseas pacers or uncapped Indian talents.
