India has a reputation of producing very promising cricketers and the list is endless. Prithvi Shaw is rated as one of them, however, the 25-year-old has took a drastic slid in the list. Shaw lost his spot in the Mumbai Ranji team and going unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega-auction at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was the latest setback the opener batter had to endure.

However, this wasn't the case always as Shaw leading from the front has guided India to a U-19 World Cup title previously, and has represented the Men In Blue in all three formats. However, ethics and discipline were always in question regarding the cricketer, thus aiding in his downfall from stardom to now a forgotten hero.

However, there are many, who still believe Prithvi can make a roaring comeback and Punjab Kings explosive batter Shashank Singh is one of those. Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra on his podcast "Unplugged Shubhankar", Shashank was asked to name the "next big thing in Indian cricket" post Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who arguably are in the twilight of their international career.

“Yashasvi (Jaiswal) for sure ek bada naam hai (is a big name). Shubman (Gill) is a very talented player. There’s Prithvi Shaw. Agar vo back to basics aa jaye toh I think koi bhi near nahi hai uske (If he returns to basic then there will be no one near him). I have known him for 13 years," said the Punjab Kings player, who was retained by the franchise for Rs 5.5 crore.

"We have played club cricketer together in Mumbai. He has a different point of view of things; he knows what is right and what is wrong, but as of now if he changes his point of view about a few things then I think usse bada koi cheej he nahi hai (no one is bigger than him).

"Attitude, work ethics, fitness, discipline – he must be doing it. I am 100 percent sure that he is so professional, he has played Test cricket. He must be doing it, but if he can modify those things then it will be better for him," he added.
