MS Dhoni has been traveling to the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi on a regular basis, which is almost ten kilometers from his home. The former India captain has been working out at the facility for the past two months as reported by the Times of India.

"His routine has been fixed for the last two months. He comes to the stadium at 1:30 pm, hits the gym for an hour, then pads up and does power-hitting training in the nets for two hours. If the centre wicket is available and no match is happening, he also does match simulations. Mahi signs out after a swimming session for another half an hour. He leaves the complex at 6 pm," the report quoted a JSCA official as saying.

"He is just doing the Mahi things that he has done all his life working hard."

There have been rumors about Dhoni's future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a number of years. CSK won just four of their 14 games in IPL 2025, finishing at the bottom of the league for the first time in 16 seasons. They were also the first team to be eliminated from playoff contention.

At an event in Chennai, the 44-year-old, who filled in as CSK's captain following Ruturaj Gaikwad's elbow fracture, talked candidly about returning for IPL 2026. He had said: "It depends. Again, I would say the same thing: I have four-five months to decide, there's no hurry to decide what needs to be done."

As promised, Dhoni has been putting in a lot of effort to get ready for the 2026 edition of IPL.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan dispelled all rumors last week at a Chennai event. "No, he is not retiring before this IPL," he said.

It would be intriguing to watch what role the former captain plays as Sanju Samson is expected to join CSK from Rajasthan Royals in a blockbuster transfer deal. Since joining CSK in 2008, Dhoni has guided them to five IPL championships. By giving Samson the keeping gloves, CSK might reduce Dhoni's workload and allow him to pick and choose games.

However, Dhoni is currently putting in a lot of effort to maintain his fitness for the forthcoming season.
