With each edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there's keen anticipation surrounding the bowlers who clinch the most wickets, earning the prestigious Purple Cap. Often, these standout performers go on to represent their respective national teams in prestigious tournaments like the T20 World Cup, enhancing their value for future IPL seasons.

In the 2023 season, Gujarat Titans' Mohammed Shami claimed the Purple Cap, securing 28 wickets in 17 matches. He was closely followed by his teammate Mohit Sharma, who bagged 27 scalps in 14 matches. Rashid Khan of Afghanistan, also representing GT, secured the third spot with 27 wickets in 17 matches, while Piyush Chawla of Mumbai Indians claimed 22 wickets in 16 games, securing the fourth position. Completing the top 5 list was RR's Chahal, who clinched 21 wickets in 14 matches.
