IPL 2024 Purple Cap Jasprit Bumrah tops the list

Jasprit Bumrah remains the Purple Cap leader with 13 wickets for Mumbai Indians. PBKS' Harshal Patel ties for wickets but is second due to a higher economy rate. Sam Curran moves to fifth with 11 wickets. Chahal and Coetzee drop positions.

Following their match against Punjab Kings on Thursday, Mumbai Indians duo Jasprit Bumrah and Gerald Coetzee ascended the Purple Cap standings.

Bumrah, who claimed three wickets, surpassed Yuzvendra Chahal to claim the top position on the charts, while Coetzee's double strikes propelled him into third place.

Additionally, Kagiso Rabada entered the Top 5 with his single wicket against MI, while Delhi Capitals' Khaleel Ahmed maintained his position at fourth.

Heading into the 2024 season, Jasprit Bumrah leads the chart with 13 wickets. Rajasthan Royals' spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is at second spot for most wickets taken. He is closely followed by retired CSK and West Indian cricketing legend Dwayne Bravo with 183 wickets, and Mumbai Indians' Piyush Chawla occupies the third spot with 179 wickets. Following suit, Amit Mishra of Lucknow Super Giants secures the fourth position with 173 scalps, while Ravichandran Ashwin of Rajasthan Royals claims fifth place with 171 wickets.

In the 2023 season, Mohammed Shami of Gujarat Titans clinched the Purple Cap with 28 wickets in 17 matches. His teammate, Mohit Sharma, closely followed with 27 scalps in 14 matches. Occupying the third spot was Afghanistan's Rashid Khan, also representing GT, with 27 wickets in 17 matches, trailed by Mumbai Indians' Piyush Chawla, who amassed 22 wickets in 16 games. Completing the top five was Rajasthan Royals' Yuzvendra Chahal, who secured 21 wickets in 14 matches.
